Poetry, Short Stories, Essays, Becoming Pearls, a collection by Debi Knight Kennedy, Alaskan Author, Memoir, Fine Art Photos, Women's Gift

$18.00

I was told that a collection of this type was not a 'real' genre, that I would need to pick a single format, either stories or essays or poetry in order to be published. I listened, I nodded and I went ahead and made it myself. As an artist I'm not used to having people tell me what I can or cannot make. No need to start asking permission now.

From Becoming Pearls...

"It seems to me that it is the grit in this life that makes us who and what we are. The irritations. The intolerable situations we find ourselves in. The beauty that is missing in our lives, beauty that we once knew we deserved. The ugliness we discover within and the struggle to make our own beauty from the ashes. The becoming."

I hope you enjoy the journey!

From one Pearl to another...thanks for sharing!!!

My book arrived today - along with a wonderful Billiken & thank you! I have only scanned the pages and read a few tidbits as it came out of the packaeg but it looks great! All the best...

Wonderful stories by a talented friend. Thank you for the Billikins! They are hanging over each of our work benches.

In 2007 I visited Haines, Alaska on a photo trip. While there, I decided to look for some uniquely Alaskan art jewelry and found Debi’s beautiful silver work in a little shop called Willard Street Treasures. I was befriended by Sue Folletti, one of the owners, and still have fond memories of my time in Haines. It took me a while to review Debi's book because after receiving it. . .I couldn't put it down! Debi has eloquently captured and expressed so many emotions in her book. This is a book that you would carry with you everywhere, discovering something new with each reading. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me wonder if had misplaced my diary in Haines…. Most of all, it made me miss my grandmother. And her pearls.

Debi wrote a beautiful book.
